*. Temp---Tropical-23 to 29-Southern-18 to 26.
*. Conditions---Medium to high water quality. Steady current environment. Akgae
intense reef environment. Plenty of swim throughs.
*. Negatives---Non-except they may mow down some algae’s you want to keep intact.
They may chew on tubeworms, sponges, clams etc.
*. Positives---They will keep some algae’s at bay. The yellow tang will eat some algae
that others won’t touch. Lots of colour in your tank. Normally peaceful family.
*. Food---Treats such as dehusked peas, cunjivoe and sushi wrap will keep good
colour and body on them. Any good algae added are beneficial. Marinara + blend
as the day-to-day food.
*. Comments---These fish have small scales, which makes them a little susceptible
to white spot. The scopas, Hawaiian yellow tang and the sail fin are very easy
to keep and no real trouble. Each day hang a section of sushi wrap for them to nibble
on during the day. Once the tangs get near full size they have nearly finished developing
their weapon on their peduncle area before their tail. This can cause some serious
damage if used.
*.
Temp---As above.
*.
Conditions---as above.
*.
Negatives---Some can be a bit nasty like the Acanthurus lineatus and when it attains
several inches or so in size so can the Paracanthurus hepatus. Most can be a
bit of a threat to shrimps, crabs etc. They also have small scales that can attract
white spot.
*.
Positives---They are colourful and easy to feed and are very active in an
aquarium.
*.
Food---The same as the tangs except they need some marine meats in their diet
as well, eg, squid, prawn, that sought of thing. Hang some sushi wrap in the
tank for nibbling on, or even a prawn.
